Rob Niezen |
Rob Niezen is a painter, printmaker and illustrator living and working in Douro, Ontario. His work has been shown in public galleries across Ontario, including in several solo exhibitions, and is held in public, private and corporate collections across North America, Europe and New Zealand.
Niezen created the illustrations for a number of books and publications, including One Fine T’ing – The Story of Jamaican Self-Help, and the children’s book Ameliya Disappears. He created a series of linocuts reflecting on the narrative of folk songs from rural Ontario titled Cross Cut. This project resulted in several exhibitions, a song book, as well as music performances and a music CD with traditional music group Backwoodsmen. Before playing traditional Ontario folk songs, he sang and played guitar with casual cover band Los Chaos from Delft, Netherlands. Following in his grandfather’s footsteps, he has now also picked up the mandolin. |
